Sharp Guy 26-year-old in court over alleged theft

An Abeokuta Magistrates Court slams a 26-yr-old man with N100,000 bail for defrauding another of N213,000.

A 26-year-old man Fabenro Ismail, who allegedly defrauded another man of N213,000, on Friday appeared before an Abeokuta Magistrates’ Court in Ogun.

Ismail, whose address is unknown, is facing a two-count charge of stealing and obtaining money by false pretences.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty.

According to the prosecutor, Insp. Sunday  Eigbejiale, the accused defrauded Mr Afeez Adedayo under the pretext of buying an iron door and window burglary proof for him.

The prosecutor said that the accused collected money from Adedayo for purchase of the door and burglary proof but converted the money for his personal use.

Eigbejiale told the court that the accused committed the offences on Oct. 3, 2015 at 10.00a.m. at Ifedapo Community, Fadama Bode in Abeokuta.

He submitted that the offences contravened Sections 419 and 390(9) of the Criminal Law of Ogun, 2006.
The Magistrate, Mrs Oriyomi Sofowora, granted the accused bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.
She adjourned the case to Feb. 14 for substantive hearing.
