Nigeria's Vice President Yemi Osibanjor hailed for keeping to his promises to Abians

The Abia State governor Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu has been commended for attracting Federal presence to the State which they say has skyrocketed the State to a reasonable point.

President Buhari has forwarded names of the representatives of Abia, Imo and Ondo States on the board of the NDDC to the Senate for screening.

It would be recalled that when the Vice President Osibanjor visited Abia State last week for a Town Hall Meeting with people from the Oil Producing Communities of Abia State, told the people that in the next one week, the President will submit the name of an indigene of the oil producing Local Government of Ukwa West to the Senate as a Non Executive Director of the NDDC.

He has fulfilled the promise.
The names sent by the President to the Senate include-

1. Nwogu N Nwogu- Abia
2. Hon. Chuka Ama Nwauwa - Imo
3. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa - Ondo.

Investigation reveals that the reason might not be unconnected to the Senate's rejection of the nominations of Chief Donatus Nwankpa from Abia, Olatokunbo Ajasin from Ondo and Senator Osita Izunaso of Imo State on the basis that they are not indigenes of oil producing communities in their states.

This rejection by the Senate was sequel to a motion moved by Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe representing Abia South where he drew the attention of the Senate to Section 2(1) of the NDDC Act which makes it mandatory that only indigenes of oil producing communities will be appointed to the board of the NDDC.

The President, in his letter to the Senate asked the Senate to expeditiously screen the nominees to give their people a sense of belonging on the activities of the NDDC.
