Kenneth Omeruo Super Eagles defender says Nigeria have not qualified for World Cup yet

The win has brought so much relief to Nigerian football fans who believe the Super Eagles are home and dry for the World Cup.

Super Eagles defender Kenneth Omeruo has called on his teammates to be cautious after their 3-1 win over Algeria on Saturday, November 12.

Goals from Victor Moses and John Mikel Obi gave the Super Eagles the win to put them in commanding position in Group B of the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
The win has brought so much relief to Nigerian football fans who believe the Super Eagles are home and dry in the race for the World Cup.

But Omeruo who played as a right-back in that win over Algeria does not agree.
I can’t say that we have qualified because no team qualifies for a competition after only two games,” the defender said.

We are in good position to qualify if we don’t allow it to get into our heads. We must remain focused and show respect to our group opponents if we are to pick the only ticket.
We should reflect on the games we have played and think of what we should do to ensure that we qualify.
We must not let the points between us and others in group slip if we are serious about the World Cup ticket.”

The Algeria win has been celebrated a bit too much in my opinion. They are the biggest threats to the Super Eagles, but Cameroon pose the same level of menace as the Desert Warriors.
This is football, 1 plus 1 does not equate two; we should end this party over that win over Algeria and focus on the double header against Cameroon.

The only advantage that win over Algeria gives us is that we have the opportunities to make the return leg against the Desert Warriors irrelevant.
If we take maximum points from the double header against Cameroon and the home game against Zambia, the Super Eagles of Nigeria can travel to Algiers with nothing but pride to play for.
Until then, like Omeruo has said, we should calm down and focus.
